Bob Finch issued his first travel & exploration catalog in 1978 while living in
California
. Moving to
Washington
state in 1983, he begin to specialize in polar exploration books & ephemera, changing the business name to High Latitude Books. During the years 1978-2002, he issued over 80 catalogues and offering thousands of scarce and rare books in the fields of arctic and
Antarctic exploration, Pacific voyages, sailing ships & the sea, etc., plus many lists of out-of-print books in related fields. High Latitude also conducted two highly successful auctions of polar related books & ephemera, one in 1996 featuring the Antarctic collection of William D. Priested, M.D., the second in 1999 featuring the polar collection of Louis Starr.

Aquila Books in the basement of his
home in 1984. Since then Aquila
Books has grown, and Cameron has now
maintained an open retail shop for 20
years. Aquila Books offers Western
Canada's finest selection of:
Polar Exploration, Hunting & Fishing,
Mountaineering, Maps & Prints, Canadian
Pacific Railway, Early Voyages, Historic
Photographs, Autograph Letters,
Ephemera, and Antique Scientific
Instruments. Cameron makes twice
yearly buying trips to the U.K., and is
always looking to purchase significant
collections large or small. Aquila Books
puts out a colour illustrated catalogue
twice a year on Polar, Klondike and
related fields.
